Boston Alumni Get-Together
03 June 2010
Cambridge, MA 02142

Last month, amid the clink of wine glasses and the chatter of old friends, A.T. Kearney’s Boston area alumni community came together for the Cambridge Office’s first alumni gathering of 2010. 18 alumni from 5 different Kearney offices attended, joined by 10 Cambridge current employees. In addition to a firm update from Cambridge officers Mike Wise, Bob Willen, and Ken Lee, attendees enjoyed a reception at Technique, the restaurant of the nearby Le Cordon Bleu culinary academy.

The alumni team also used the gathering to pilot a new event format – ‘Alumni Roundtables’ – which gave alumni a forum to share critiques and ideas on the firm’s alumni programming. The discussion in Cambridge was engaging, frank, and productive, and we look forward to hosting additional roundtable discussions in other North American offices over the course of the next year. In the meantime, the alumni team welcomes any feedback on alumni communications and programming that you may have – please feel free to email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we’ll put you in touch with the appropriate team member.

The Cambridge office and alumni team extend their ‘thanks’ to those who attended and shared their ideas. We’re already looking forward to hosting a second alumni event this Winter!

Firm Update and Happy Hour
15 January 2010 - Chicago
The Chicago office hosted an Alumni Meet & Greet at the Metropolitan club in downtown Chicago on January 15. The casual get together included a presentation by North America Unit Leader, John Yoshimura, on the “State of the Firm”. John presented a summary of the North America unit’s financial performance in 2009 and shared the firm’s key focus areas for 2010 and beyond. We had a great turnout with more than 50 alumni attending. Attendees had questions on the outlook for the consulting industry in the years ahead, the firm’s diversity initiatives and insights from the latest Global Business Policy Council (GBPC) research. Attendance at these events has grown significantly since we started organizing them last year. We hope this trend continues and more of our alumni join us to reminisce and catch up.

Thanks to Chicago Alumni for participating in the 2009 Chicago-land Alumni Survey!

Alumni living in the Chicago area were surveyed recently via e-mail to get their take on the alumni program. We heard from more than 20 percent of the alumni, both consulting and non-consulting. Our Chicago alumni say they are very interested in connecting with the firm and maintaining an ongoing relationship, including opportunities for collaboration.

The A.T. Kearney team appreciates the input and many suggestions are already in the works, such as:

  • Providing a variety of networking events, both social and intellectual capital briefings - Watch for upcoming events in the NA Alumni Newsletter and event emails
  • Ensuring communication and events each quarter for ongoing connection
  • Continuing to improve the alumni website and password-protected directory - Check out our new alumni registration and update your information here
